Why wont they identify who the royal is in the blackmail attempt?

Some answers I’ve seen on other questions say that in France and Spain they are identifying it, but I cant find any news articles from those countries. Why is the UK making it illegal to identify the royal? Who cares if we know as long as the tape doesnt get released, right?

At this point the matter is sub judice and therefore pertinent details are not reportable – although it is odd that this is quite happily ignored in other cases
